Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Miulintuokaitao Mt. (No. 1679 highland; Follow the regional geological map of Qijiaojin), Xinjiang. It was named by Fu Shubang et al. in 1971, and formally cited in The Paleozoic Erathem of Xinjiang in 1991.


Lithology and Thickness

Volcanics and Volcaniclastics. Carnation and purple rhyolite and rhyolite porphyry intercalated with dacite and felsite, dark-gray-green peridotitic basaltic porphyrite, tuff, tuffaceous lava and lumpy tuff breccia. Exposed thickness is 525 m.

Lower contact

Unknown: It is in faulted contact with the underlying Yangbulak Fm => Column 4 region

Unknown: The top is unexposed

Regional extent

From east to west, acid lava increases and thickens. Westward to the Kekebasitawu area of the regioal geological map of Mulei County, it is composed of light purple and light flesh-red felsic porphyry, rhyolite porphyry, andesitic porphyrite, lava breccia and intermediate-basic tuff breccia, bottom unexposed, and exposed thickness 1110 m. Extending from the northwest corner of the Qijiaojing sheet westward to the northeast part of the Mulei sheet, it is an intermediate-acid eruptive rock formation.
